We offered our own path to meditation: through music, living in the moment, and letting go of prejudice. With every ticket, we added a bath in time. And on top of that — a map to your deepest desires and an invisible level to check your inner balance.

Ravekjavík Zen is an expanded, free daytime program: discussion panels, exhibitions, fashion shows — and above all, HOURS of electronic music from around the world, alongside pentatonic scales in a digital form. Gender balance behind the decks, no -phobias, no -isms. Love for people, the city, and the music.

Not one, but two Ravekjavíks. One yellow, the other red.

Those who don’t remember what Ravekjavík was like definitely have plenty of great memories from Ravekjavík.

After our first visit to this mysterious — and still operational — research facility hidden in Stare Polesie, between Wólczańska and Gdańska streets, we knew we wanted to stay connected to this place for longer. And that’s exactly what happened, as confirmed by the next three editions of Ravekjavík held there.

We remember 2021, among other things, as the year we were joined by the Łódź Academy of Fine Arts, the TME Polówka Festival, the Polish Drug Policy Initiative, and the Hard to Forget tattoo studio.

What a year it was — everyone knows. Not an easy one.

In Poland: quarantine, vaccines, and protests against stricter abortion laws.

At Ravekjavík, though: a three-hour live stream, dancing (thanks Kipisz!), puppet theatre (thanks NYSKA Studio!), murals (Il Grande Pawłowski! Hero!), fun art (Kasia! Natka!), video tutorials on how to hook up a speaker (thanks Jeremi!), a live connection with Tallinn (big love to Ruxpin), house parties from Łódź to Iceland (thanks everyone). We also released our first vinyl.

Did you know the very first Ravekjavík had its pre-party in Warsaw?

Yeah… for the Friday warm-up, we rolled into Pogłos in the capital. Some guy in a fur coat was charging twenty zloty at the door. A lot of friends showed up — even some unexpected ones from the UK. It was good: we talked, we danced, and by morning we jumped into cars and headed back home to Łódź.

On Saturday, April 22, 2017 — a tradition began, one that couldn’t be stopped in the years that followed. It was supposed to be a party for two or three hundred people, but half the city showed up. A crumbling factory, a few speakers, one projector, random gear we found on-site… plus a red-hot coke burner and a fish and chips food truck out front.
